Position Overview
The Operations Manager serves as the central execution leader across Sun Lighting's Corporate Office and Showroom operations. This role bridges strategy and execution, translating leadership direction into structured processes, accountable teams, and scalable systems.
This is a builder role, not a maintenance role. You will formalize processes, implement systems, and develop team structure in an environment that is growing rapidly and evolving.
This role carries a strong operational and supply chain focus, with approximately 80% of responsibilities centered on purchasing, supply chain coordination, return goods processing, and operational execution, and 20% focused on customer service and support functions.
You will oversee teams across multiple operational functions and help establish the foundation for future growth.
What You'll Do
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations across Corporate Office and Showroom teams
- Lead and support teams across Guest Services, Purchasing, and Return Goods departments
- Manage workload, priorities, and performance across functions
- Identify operational gaps and implement scalable solutions
- Serve as the primary liaison between leadership and operational teams
Supply Chain & Purchasing Leadership
- Own purchasing workflows and operational coordination with manufacturers and vendors
- Support order flow, inventory movement, and vendor communication
- Drive efficiency across purchasing and return authorization processes
- Monitor operational bottlenecks and improve execution speed
- Coordinate tactical operational initiatives and issue resolution
Process & Systems Development
- Lead operational execution following POS system implementation
- Build and maintain SOPs across operational functions
- Identify undocumented processes and create scalable standards
- Drive Microsoft 365 adoption, including Teams, SharePoint, and Excel tools
- Ensure data accuracy across order management and purchasing systems
People Management
- Lead and develop team members across multiple departments
- Own onboarding, training, and performance management processes
- Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and growth
- Identify development opportunities and succession pathways
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Align Operations with Sales, Accounting, and Purchasing teams
- Improve communication and workflows across departments
- Collaborate with leadership to implement operational priorities
Reporting & KPIs
- Track and report operational performance metrics
- Identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Support budget awareness and cost control initiatives
What You BringExperience
- 5–8 years of operations leadership experience, ideally within distribution, purchasing, retail, supply chain, or similar environments
- Proven experience building processes and systems from the ground up
- Strong people leadership and team development experience
- Experience supporting or leading software or system implementations
- Experience working in fast-paced, growing organizations
- Ability to manage vendors, manufacturers, and tactical operations
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, especially Excel, Teams, and SharePoint
- Experience with POS, ERP, purchasing, or order management systems
- Experience creating SOPs and workflow documentation
