Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook/ Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, assisting in the preparation of high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment. Your attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively with the kitchen staff will contribute to the overall success of our restaurant.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for various dishes, including washing, chopping, and measuring food items.
- Follow recipes and instructions provided by the head chef or kitchen manager to ensure consistency in food quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including proper food handling and storage practices.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including knives and other food preparation tools.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Support the dietary department by preparing meals that meet specific dietary requirements when necessary.
- Help with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and notifying management of any shortages.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or as a cook in a restaurant or dietary department is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food handling and safety practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques.
- A team player with strong communication skills who can work well with others in the kitchen.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new techniques and recipes.
