Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Provides advanced academic advising and student support services for students in the College of Nursing. Supports student success, retention, and graduation by guiding students through academic planning, degree requirements, and progression standards. Monitors academic performance, interprets policies, and partners with faculty and campus offices to address student needs. Serves as a key liaison and student advocate while contributing to recruitment, orientation, and program development efforts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Academic Advising & Student Development – 40%
Advise students on academic requirements including general education, nursing program requirements, and progression standards.
Assist with course registration, schedule planning, and adjustments.
Collaborate with students to assess educational and career goals and develop academic plans.
Provide guidance on academic policies, procedures, and scholastic standing.
Academic Progress Monitoring & Intervention – 20%
Monitor and analyze student academic progress using instructor reports and institutional systems.
Evaluate eligibility and satisfactory progress toward degree completion.
Identify at-risk students and coordinate interventions through referrals and support services.
Communicate findings and concerns with faculty, advisors, and relevant stakeholders.
Student Support & Resource Coordination – 15%
Assist students with academic and non-academic problem solving.
Refer students to campus resources such as financial aid, counseling, disability services, and health services.
Serve as a student advocate with faculty and campus service units.
Foster a welcoming, including advising environment that supports student belonging.
Academic Administration & Records Management – 10%
Run degree audits and evaluate progress towards graduation.
Prepare, update, and finalize graduation lists and perform Latin Honors checks.
Evaluate transfer transcripts and apply credits toward degree programs. Monitor program requirement changes and communicate updates as needed.
Collaboration, Outreach, & Recruitment – 10%
Collaborate with campus offices such as Admissions, Financial Aid, and Counseling to support student success.
Participate in recruitment activities and meet with prospective students.
Assist with orientation programming and presentations for new students.
Maintain liaison relationships across campus to coordinate student support services.
Technology Utilization & Operational Support – 5%
Utilize advising technologies and systems to support student success and track progress.
Educate students on use of institutional tools and resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.
As with all positions, may perform other job-related responsibilities as needed to support departmental and campus-wide needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is primarily performed in an office and advising environment with regular interaction with students, faculty, and staff. The role requires extended periods of sitting, computer use, and occasional movement across campus. The position involves sustained cognitive engagement, data analysis, and managing a complex student caseload.

None.
Shift
40 hours/week. Monday - Friday
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in higher education or closely related field.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of academic advising and professional best practices.
Experience working with multiple demands, schedules, and work styles.
Ability to handle confidential information.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
Ability to work with faculty, staff, and student populations.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to maintain accurate and complete student files and office records.
Proficient in university admissions, registration, and MS Office systems.
Anticipated Hiring Range
$50,367 - $61,173
