Organization: Migrants Empowered (formerly C&J Migrant Solutions Foundation) Reports To: Director of Programming Location: Hybrid (Remote with occasional in-person classes, meetings, and community events) Hours: 10 hours per week Compensation: $1,500–$2,000 per month (part-time; based on experience and certifications). Salary will be reviewed and increased at the 6-month and 12-month marks, based on quarterly review scoring as program funding expands.

Through immigration legal services, citizenship preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), workforce development, digital literacy, financial empowerment, and community support services, we help individuals and families build stable, independent, and thriving lives.

Position Overview
Migrants Empowered is seeking an experienced, visionary, and certified ESL educator to serve as our Interim Director of Education. This individual will lead the continued development and expansion of our Adult Education Department while ensuring our ESL program maintains high instructional standards and positions participants to earn recognized certificates of completion.

The Interim Director will oversee curriculum development, instructor support, educational partnerships, learner assessment, and program quality while helping shape the future of education programming at Migrants Empowered.
This position requires both leadership and hands-on involvement with program development.

Key Responsibilities
Educational Leadership
- Provide overall leadership for Migrants Empowered's Adult Education Department
- Develop the long-term vision for ESL and adult education programming
- Ensure instructional quality across all education initiatives
- Establish educational goals, benchmarks, and learner outcomes
Curriculum Development
- Design, evaluate, and continuously improve curriculum for:
- English as a Second Language (Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced)
- Citizenship Preparation
- Workforce Readiness
- Digital Literacy
- Financial Literacy
- Resume Development
- Job Readiness
- Basic Computer Skills
- Ensure curriculum aligns with adult learning best practices and culturally responsive instruction
Instructional Oversight
- Recruit, mentor, and support volunteer and part-time instructors
- Observe instruction and provide coaching
- Ensure consistency across classrooms
- Develop lesson plans and instructional resources when needed
Program Administration
- Develop course schedules and instructional calendars
- Maintain attendance and learner progress records
- Track measurable program outcomes
- Assist with grant reporting related to educational programming
- Recommend improvements based on participant feedback and data
Partnerships
- Develop relationships with:
- Community colleges
- Adult education providers
- Workforce development organizations
- Public libraries
- Universities
- Volunteer instructors
- Community organizations
- Explore partnerships that strengthen educational offerings and increase learner opportunities
Participant Success
- Ensure students receive:

- Collaborate with leadership to expand educational programming throughout Maryland and Washington, DC

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- TESOL Certification (Mandatory)
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, TESOL, ESL, Adult Education, or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
- Being bilingual is a plus
