A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join its production team. This position is ideal for a highly skilled machinist who enjoys solving complex machining challenges, improving manufacturing processes, and mentoring others. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting production through advanced CNC programming, machine setup, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement.
This is a hands-on position within a precision manufacturing environment that values safety, quality, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, edit, and optimize CNC machining programs to improve efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.
- Perform advanced machine setups on CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment, including multi-axis machines.
- Diagnose machining and equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by reducing setup times, increasing throughput, and improving overall process performance.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, maintenance, and production teams to improve manufacturability and support new product launches.
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment to verify compliance with drawings and quality standards.
- Recommend tooling, fixturing, and machining process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.
- Document setup information, tooling changes, and process updates to support standardized work practices.
- Assist with production scheduling priorities within the machining area to help meet customer delivery expectations.
- Train and mentor less experienced machinists while promoting safe work practices and technical development.
- Safely operate material handling equipment as required and obtain company-sponsored certifications when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience operating and setting up CNC mills and lathes.
- Ability to create, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, blueprint interpretation, and quality standards.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot machining processes and implement process improvements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to workplace safety and maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- State Indentured Journeyman certification or equivalent machining certification.
- Experience with multi-axis machining and complex part manufacturing.
- Previous experience mentoring or training machinists in a production environment.
