Job Summary
Advance your career in the landscape industry as a Residential Landscape Technician II (Landscape Tech 2). This role is designed for individuals with 2–5 years of landscaping experience who are ready to take on more responsibility in both landscape maintenance and installation projects.
As a Landscape Tech 2, you will play a key role in executing high-quality work across Residential properties while supporting crew efficiency and job site productivity. You’ll utilize your experience with tools, equipment, and installation practices to contribute to projects ranging from turf and irrigation to hardscapes and planting. In addition, you will help guide and mentor entry-level team members, reinforcing company standards and best practices.
This position is ideal for someone looking to grow into a leadership role while continuing to build technical expertise in landscaping and outdoor construction.
Position Level: Landscape Tech 2 (2–5 Years Experience)
- Demonstrates all skills and expectations of Landscape Tech 1, plus:
- Has a working knowledge of landscaping principles or direct industry experience
- Comfortable using hand tools and operating small to mid-size equipment (Skid Steer, Dingo, Mini Excavator, etc.)
- Understanding of installation best practices, including:
- Turf installation
- Irrigation systems (install & basic troubleshooting)
- Planting beds, shrubs, and tree installation
- Rock and mulch applications
- Ability to mentor and train Landscape Tech 1 employees on basic tasks and standards
- Maintains strong quality control awareness with minimal supervision
- Reports directly to Crew Foreman
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with landscape maintenance and installation projects
- Operate equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
- Support irrigation installs, adjustments, and repairs
- Assist in hardscape construction (patios, walkways, retaining walls, outdoor features)
- Execute planting and landscape enhancement work with proper techniques
- Help maintain job site organization, cleanliness, and safety standards
- Provide on-the-job guidance and support to Landscape Tech 1 team members
- Ensure work meets company quality standards and client expectations
- Communicate effectively with Foreman and crew to maintain productivity
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2–5 years of landscape or construction-related experience
- Strong understanding of landscape installation and maintenance practices
- Experience operating:
- Skid Steer
- Dingo / Mini Skid
- Mini Excavator (preferred)
- Ability to read and follow basic job instructions and plans
- Knowledge of:
- Irrigation systems
- Planting techniques
- Soil preparation and grading basics
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong team collaboration and communication skills
- Willingness to train and mentor entry-level employees
