Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting middle and high school students in a self-contained, 12:1:1 classroom setting from September through June. You'll play a key role in helping students achieve academic and behavioral growth, working closely alongside a dedicated Teaching Assistant and multidisciplinary team. What We’re Looking For:
- Valid New York Special Education teaching certification for middle or high school grades
- Prior experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Proficiency in behavior management strategies and differentiated instructional techniques
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with a full-time Teaching Assistant and other professionals
- Background supporting students requiring intensive academic and behavioral interventions
Your Duties Will Include:
- Leading a 12:1:1 self-contained classroom (up to 12 students, with one certified Special Education Teacher and one Teaching Assistant)
- Creating and delivering individualized lesson plans addressing diverse learning needs
- Developing, reviewing, and managing IEPs, ensuring goals are met with appropriate modifications
- Implementing meaningful behavioral supports to foster positive classroom culture
- Collaborating with staff, families, and service providers to support student progress through targeted academic and life skills instruction
- Maintaining detailed records on student growth and providing regular updates
