Job Summary:
Nurturing Minds Health and Wellness Center is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Autism Waiver to join our team in Maryland. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and developmental disabilities or hold relevant education in a human services field. The DSP will provide home and community-based support services designed to promote independence, daily living skills, communication, socialization, and community integration. This role focuses on delivering person-centered, evidence-based support while maintaining the health, safety, and dignity of each participant. We provide services to participants in the following areas:
- Baltimore City
- Baltimore County
- Carroll County
- Cecil County
- Harford County
- Howard County
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to participants in home and community settings.
- Implement goals and interventions outlined in the participant's Person-Centered Plan.
- Assist participants in developing communication, social, behavioral, and daily living skills.
- Support participants with community integration and recreational activities.
- Maintain timely and accurate electronic documentation of all services provided.
- Communicate participant progress, concerns, and significant changes to supervisors and the interdisciplinary team.
- Ensure participant safety while promoting independence and self-determination.
- Maintain compliance with agency policies, Maryland Autism Waiver requirements, HIPAA regulations, and CMS HCBS standards.
Qualifications:Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to provide person-centered services in home and community-based settings.
- Familiarity with implementing behavior support strategies and skill-building interventions.
- Experience documenting services using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred.
- Experience supporting individuals in community integration and independent living activities.
