SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with PUBLIC’s standards. This role requires strong product knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to create a welcoming and engaging bar experience while maintaining efficiency and compliance with all regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Be an ambassador for PUBLIC by meeting and exceeding PUBLIC core objectives and values.
- Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, professional, and engaging service.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all menu offerings, including cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits.
- Provide recommendations and upsell beverages to enhance the guest experience.
- Ensure bar setup is fully stocked, organized, and ready for service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, tools, and equipment at all times.
- Monitor guest consumption and adhere to responsible alcohol service standards.
- Process transactions accurately using POS systems and follow all cash handling procedures.
- Perform opening and closing duties, including inventory checks, restocking, and cleaning.
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with team members and provide lateral service to support overall operations.
- Follow direction from supervisors and maintain positive working relationships.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of mixology, spirits, wine and beer.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 40lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions while preparing beverages and handling transactions.
- Ability to work under time pressure during peak service hours, including weekends and holidays.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years bartending experience in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant preferred.
- Valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required.
- Must possess a valid California Food Handler Card or be able to obtain one within the required time frame.
