Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Core Curriculum, the Literacy Learning and School Support Coordinator provides leadership in developing, implementing, and supporting the K-12 Literacy instructional program at division and school levels. This role focuses on providing professional learning for all educators utilizing a job-embedded division coaching model.
This position will support middle schools and high schools.
Essential Functions:

Strategic Instructional Leadership: Partners with school leadership and school improvement teams to support Continuous School Improvement Plans (CSIP) through strategic observation, conferencing, coaching, and modeling.

Curriculum & Systems Management: Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Division's written, taught, and assessed Secondary English curriculum. Facilitates and refines curriculum processes in collaboration with development teams.

Capacity Building & Professional Learning: Designs and provides targeted professional learning for teachers, administrators, and instructional coaches. Utilizes effective division culture and educational strategies to facilitate ongoing systems change and staff professional growth.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Assists division leaders and administrators in analyzing student performance data, and utilizes assessment platforms to make strategic decisions regarding instructional support and planning.

Operations & Resource Management: Coordinates the purchase, adoption, and management of content curriculum resources, materials, and supplies.

Leadership & Advocacy: Serves as the division's representative in state-level content meetings and professional organizations to advocate for content instructional needs. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate a shared vision of learning and stays at the forefront of policy changes affecting the core content program.

Personal Leadership Development: Maintains expert-level knowledge of current research and instructional trends through continuous professional study. Actively pursues learning opportunities that align personal leadership development with the division's mission, vision, and long-term strategic goals to ensure high-quality service to schools.

Education and Experience:

Education: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Licensure: Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License. Ability to obtain appropriate endorsements required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board.

Experience: Five (5) years of recent and successful teaching experience.

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 12-Month (243 Day), full-time position. The work schedule for this position is 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually.
