Quality Machine Products is seeking a dependable and detail-driven Saw Operator to join our CNC machine shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for cutting metal materials to precise work order specifications, maintaining saw equipment, and supporting production quality and traceability standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate metal cutting equipment, including Hyd-Mech saws and circular saws, to meet production requirements
- Interpret work orders, blueprints, and material certifications to ensure accurate cuts and proper material usage
- Install, tension, and adjust saw blades; set appropriate cutting speeds and feeds for material type
- Configure saw angles, guides, and stops using precision measuring tools
- Inspect raw materials and finished cuts to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards
- Replace worn or damaged blades and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment
- Accurately record machine time, production quantities, and job data using the shop’s computer system
- Label, organize, and stage materials for production or storage in designated inventory locations
- Receive incoming materials, verify packing lists and certifications, and safely unload deliveries (forklift experience preferred)
- Support material traceability by maintaining accurate documentation throughout the production process
- Assist with inventory control, including stocking materials, labeling, and returning excess job materials to inventory
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; support general shop upkeep as needed
- Follow all company safety procedures and guidelines
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment preferred
- Strong attention to detail is essential
- Basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking
- Ability to read blueprints, job travelers, and precision measurements
- Proficiency with measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, etc.)
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate shop equipment safely
- Forklift experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically active work
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, and metal materials
- Requires prolonged standing, lifting, and repetitive motion throughout the shift
