CPA/EA Tax Preparer

Compensation: Starting at $60,000 + Incentive Pay
Eagle Agency, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented, client-focused, and highly organized CPA/EA Tax Preparer to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of individual and business tax returns while collaborating closely with our accounting, legal, and administrative teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with U.S. tax preparation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage high-volume workflows during tax season while maintaining exceptional client service standards.
This position primarily involves the preparation and review of:
- Form 1040 Individual Tax Returns
- Schedule C Returns
- Schedule E Returns
- S Corporation Returns
- Partnership Returns
- Corporate Income Tax Returns
The role also includes year-round support for business clients through extensions, bookkeeping review, payroll support, licensing, and entity setup assistance.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Review
- Prepare and review individual and business tax returns accurately and efficiently using Drake Tax Software
- Review client financial records, general ledgers, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Identify missing information and communicate follow-up requests to clients or internal staff
- Prepare returns for final CPA review and filing
Client Information Management & Collaboration
- Gather, organize, and manage financial and tax-related information in a professional and client-focused manner
- Collaborate closely with Eagle Agency internal teams to ensure returns are completed accurately and on schedule
- Maintain detailed workflow tracking and internal task management throughout the preparation process
Workflow Coordination & Client Communication
- Manage tax preparation workflows and internal checklists for each client file
- Communicate proactively with clients regarding missing documents, deadlines, and return status updates
- Ensure a smooth and transparent client experience throughout the tax preparation process
Technology & Process Improvement
- Utilize Drake Tax Software and standard bookkeeping/accounting platforms efficiently
- Work with software integrations and workflow automation between tax, accounting, payroll, and document management systems
- Assist with improving internal processes, templates, and operational efficiencies
Year-Round Client Support
- Assist with business entity setup, including LLCs, S Corporations, EIN registrations, and state filings
- Support business license renewals and compliance filings
- Assist with extension returns and post-tax-season projects
- Provide bookkeeping, accounting support, payroll assistance, and general ledger review as needed
- Assist with payroll processing and reporting using ADP Payroll and related payroll systems
Qualifications & Skills
- CPA, EA, or equivalent tax preparation experience preferred
- PTIN Required
- Minimum 2+ years of U.S. tax preparation experience required
- Strong experience preparing individual and business tax returns
- Proficiency with Drake Tax Software required
- Experience with bookkeeping/accounting software such as QuickBooks Online/Desktop, Xero, or similar platforms preferred
- Experience with ADP Payroll or similar payroll processing systems preferred
- Understanding of U.S. tax laws, accounting principles, payroll compliance, and recent tax legislation updates
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and high-volume workloads during tax season
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and responsiveness to client needs
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Tech-savvy with the ability to learn new software and workflow systems quickly
- Strong initiative, accountability, and motivation to get the job done
