Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough orthodontic evaluations, including dental and medical history reviews, oral examinations, and assessment of dental and facial anatomy using advanced imaging techniques such as 3D scanners and dental x-rays.
- Prepare patients for orthodontic procedures by explaining treatment plans clearly, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring comfort throughout visits.
- Assist the orthodontist during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, appliance fittings, and other chairside tasks utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Manage patient records efficiently using patient management software like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation, coding, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain strict infection prevention protocols by sterilizing dental instruments, managing dental sterilization procedures, and adhering to aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic appliances, including the use of dental instruments processing tools and oral surgery aftercare when necessary.
- Support the dental reception team by coordinating appointment scheduling, verifying vital signs, and managing patient flow to optimize clinic operations.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic setting with a focus on orthodontics or pediatric dentistry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies is essential for maintaining professional standards.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Epic will enhance your ability to manage medical records efficiently.
- Hands-on experience with dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other diagnostic tools is advantageous.
- Demonstrated understanding of infection control practices, dental sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection prevention is required.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting seamlessly while demonstrating excellent patient care skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery procedures, and pediatric dentistry will support comprehensive patient treatment planning.
