JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the daily planning, management, and supervision of the classroom and children. Generally, is assisted in the classroom by an assistant teacher. Is responsible for ensuring that all parents, children, and classroom staff concerns are appropriately addressed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead Toddler teacher ensures that appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of classroom are appropriately maintained.
- Lead Toddler teacher completes all academy and classroom paperwork: for example, daily notes, student accident reports, attendance reports.
- Lead Toddler teacher has to attend and participate in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings, as requested.
- The Lead Toddler teacher has to assist and supervise children during all activities.
- Lead Toddler teacher counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise.
- Lead Toddler teacher has to prepare and implements classroom lesson plans, program, and schedules.
- Lead Toddler teacher has to develop, plan, and prepare instructional aids / materials for classroom activities.
- Lead Toddler teacher assists children with meal times and clean-up.
- Lead Toddler teacher ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly.
- Physically arranges the classroom into well-defined interest areas.
- Lead Toddler teacher directs activities of other staff in the classroom to ensure that the classroom functions in an orderly manner.
- Lead Toddler teacher communicates appropriate information to parents; and maintains developmental profiles for children.
- Schedules and conducts parent and teacher conferences throughout the year.
- Lead Toddler teacher maintains the family information board and other classroom bulletin boards.
- Lead Toddler teacher ensures that classroom medication schedule is followed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead Toddler teacher accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled personnel is not available: for example, may answer telephones at the front desk, or may assist supervisor with tasks as needed.
- Lead Toddler teacher assists with planning and implementing academy-wide events.
- Lead Toddler teacher meets with prospective families; and communicates appropriately with potential new customers.
- Lead Toddler teacher assists in evaluating personnel within the classroom.
- Lead Toddler teacher schedules field trips and speakers for monthly programs as directed by management. Lead teacher prepares classroom portion of monthly newsletter.
- Lead Toddler teacher performs other similar or related duties as necessary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Lead Toddler teacher must meet state requirements for position.
- Lead Toddler teacher must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the workday to at least waist high.
