Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Experienced Dental Assistant /Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental assisting, with specialized training in expanded functions procedures. As an EFDA, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive patient care, supporting dentists with advanced clinical tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing chairside assisting techniques.
- Perform expanded functions such as placing and finishing restorations, coronal polishing ,applying sealants, and taking preliminary impressions under supervision.
- Operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Manage electronic health records using EMR systems such as Dentrix,to ensure accurate medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Take vital signs and medical histories to support comprehensive patient assessments and coordinate care with the dental team.
- Maintain sterilization standards and infection control procedures to uphold the highest safety standards within the clinic.
- Support administrative duties as needed, including dental receptionist tasks, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow efficiently.
- Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to facilitate accurate record-keeping and billing processes.
Qualifications
- Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) credential/2 or more years of Dental Assisting experience with X-ray certification .
- Proven experience in general dentistry with a focus on pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics preferred.
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures.
- Excellent chairside assisting skills combined with a thorough understanding of dental terminology and anatomy.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable along with knowledge of medical terminology and medical documentation standards.
