Fine Advisors NYC, a French-American firm founded in 2017 specializing in international taxation, is looking for an experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA), fluent in both French and English, to join our team. The position can be based in New York or fully remote from within the United States.
Our boutique firm is growing fast. We support an international clientele (individuals & businesses) and cross-border families, with their US tax compliance and their development between France and the United States.
By joining us, you will take on a senior, review-focused role within a dynamic team, working directly with Charlotte Finelli, CPA, on our transatlantic operations.
Key responsibilities:
- Technical oversight and managing of 2 Tax Preparers on complex cross-border files
- Tax strategy and planning for individuals and businesses with cross-border interests
- Tax audit support and representation before the IRS
- Review and sign-off of US federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses, prepared by our team, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance, such as:
· Business tax returns (Forms 1120, 1065, 1120-S, sole proprietors)
· Individual tax returns, including Form 1040 and 1040-NR, with complex international reporting (Forms 5471, 8621, 8858, 8938, FBAR, etc.)
· International tax compliance: foreign income, GILTI, Subpart F, foreign tax credits, treaty applications
· Cross-border and dual-status situations, including withholding on payments to foreign persons (Forms 8805, 1042)
· Gift and estate tax returns (Forms 709, 706/706-NA), including treaty aspects
· State tax returns and multi-state compliance
- Conduct tax research to identify potential tax savings and optimize tax strategies
- Prepare and review financial statements
- Perform regular audits to identify and resolve compliance issues, avoiding delays in filings and monitoring penalties/notices
- Accounting and bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and related financial reporting
- Direct client communication in French and English on international tax matters
- Ongoing monitoring of US tax law changes and their impact on international clients
Profile:
- Active CPA license required
- 4+ years of experience in US tax, including significant exposure to international/cross-border taxation
- Strong command of French and English (native or fluent)
- Proven experience with an international or expatriate clientele strongly preferred
- Comfortable reviewing and signing off on complex returns, not just preparing them
- Ability to manage multiple files independently during high-volume periods (tax season)
- Experience managing client engagements from start to finish: strong client-facing skills, with the ability to explain complex tax topics clearly
Technical skills:
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (UltraTax, TaxDome, or equivalent)
- Deep knowledge of US individual and business taxation
- Strong expertise in international tax compliance (FBAR, FATCA, foreign income, treaty positions, etc.)
- Proficiency in Excel, AI, and digital tools

- Based in New York (on-site or hybrid) or fully remote from the United States
