Director of Recreation Responsibilities

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the recreation programs

Communicate with residents and families as necessary and involve them in the planning of facility recreation programs

Consult with staff, interdepartmental personnel, etc. to solve the needs and problems of residents through the development of recreation programs

Review and address complaints and grievances made by residents

Develop and maintain a recreation schedule

Ensure that all recreation staff incorporate residents’ care plans in daily activities
-
Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of personnel for the recreation department
-
Maintain an adequate supply and equipment for the recreation department

Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis
Director of Recreation Requirements

High school diploma or its equivalent
-
NYS license as a recreation specialist or as a recreation professional
-
Completion of a training course approved by NYS
-
2 or more years of experience in a social or recreation program
-
Previous experience in a resident activities program in a health care setting
-
