School Budget Bureau:
Review, analyze, and approve all school district and charter school operating budgets.
Calculate and monitor the distribution and use of over $4.1 billion in State Equalization Guarantee (SEG) funding.
Collect and analyze projected and actual student membership.
Collect and analyze information related to Teacher Cost Index and licensed employees certified through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
On a quarterly basis, review school district and charter school actual revenues, expenditures, and cash reports.
Review Emergency Supplemental Awards and Out-of-State Tuition Awards.
School district or charter school Board of Finance suspensions.
Provides technical support and training for school district and charter school business personnel.
Helps develop the public-school support appropriation recommendation in relation to SEG.

Why does the job exist?
The Budget Analyst Supervisor (Manager, Finance Analysis) position exists to play a critical role in maintaining fiscal integrity across New Mexico's public school districts and charter schools. Working within a high-performing and collaborative team, you will manage up to multiple budget analysts who review operating budgets, evaluate BARs, and audit quarterly financial reports while also having some assignments of your own. This role offers an exciting blend of independent analytical work and team leadership in a fast-paced environment. Beyond core financial oversight, you will partner closely with the Senior Manager, facilitate training sessions, and serve as a key point of contact for complex stakeholder inquiries.
How does it get done?
The Budget Analyst Supervisor serves as a primary point of contact for school district and charter school licensed School Business Officials, with periodic executive engagement with Superintendents and School Board Presidents. This role requires strong organizational and tracking skills to manage multiple high-priority financial duties under strict deadlines. Key responsibilities include overseeing the timely and accurate completion of district operating budgets, managing OBMS and SharePoint systems, developing presentations, and delivering staff and stakeholder training. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for motivating, guiding, and overseeing team members to ensure all organizational deliverables are completed on schedule and accurately.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, economics, accounting, finance, or auditing and six (6) years of experience in accounting, business administration, public administration, finance, or auditing, to include (2) years of managerial or supervisory experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
