General Job Description:
Bin Operator in the Rough Rice Department is required to operate machinery in order to properly sort rice into individual storage bins according to type, variety and grade. This process involves knowledge in the proper use and operation of conveyors and elevators.
Requirements:
- Must understand and follow company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Personnel Practices.
- Must understand and explain the use and requirements of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Work 8-12 hours per shift, operate and maintain conveyors, elevators and bin gates in order to store rice according to varieties and grades in storage bins.
- Perform minor repairs on conveyors and elevators as needed using hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
- Keep area clean by sweeping and/or vacuuming as needed.
- Visually inspect bins daily.
- Verbally inform the Scale-man and/or Rough Rice Manager of the inventory status of bins.
- Work in a dusty environment while handling bulky and heavy materials while exposed to seasonal hot and cold temperatures.
- Be willing and physically capable of performing other tasks within different departments of the mill on a temporary basis as needed.
- Abide by all safety regulations and standards established by Supreme Rice.
- Must report all food safety issues to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Portion of this job may require you to lift material weighing 50 lb.
- Climb flights of stairs up to 300 feet to update inventory status.
- Perform other duties directed by your Supervisor.
- Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
