Love art and interested in a career in the art world? We're looking for an enthusiastic Gallery Assistant to join our small team.
Pamela Walsh Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in downtown Palo Alto representing emerging, mid-career, and established artists. We work closely with artists, estates, collectors, and institutions, presenting a dynamic exhibition program that brings together contemporary artists and historically significant works.
This is more than a front desk position. You'll help install exhibitions, support gallery events, work with artists and collectors, and learn the day-to-day operations of a professional contemporary art gallery.
What You'll Do
- Provide excellent customer service to gallery visitors, artists, and clients.
- Help maintain a welcoming, organized gallery environment.
- Assist with exhibition installation and prepare the gallery for openings.
- Assist with artwork inventory, photography, artwork handling, and shipping.
- Update artwork, client records, and website content using our gallery management software.
- Support exhibitions, artist receptions, art fairs, and other special projects.
- Support marketing initiatives, including email campaigns, social media content, and exhibition promotions.
- Learn about the artists we represent and gradually assist with visitor and client inquiries.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress), preferably in art history, fine arts, museum studies, or a related field.
- Ability to safely lift and move artwork (up to 40 lbs.) and comfortably use basic art handling and installation tools.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Google Workspace, and learning new software, including gallery management systems.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to manage tasks independently while working as part of a small team.
- Available Fridays, Saturdays, and flexible for occasional evenings for exhibition openings and special events.
