HeplerBroom, LLC is seeking a highly organized, proactive Legal Assistant to support our complex litigation team, particularly in practice areas involving class and mass tort actions, including pharmaceutical and medical devices; products liability; and insurance defense.

Key Responsibilities:

Litigation Support – Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including document preparation, filings, discovery preparation, and trial preparation

Court Filings – Prepare, proofread, and e-file pleadings, motions, and other documents with state (IL and MO) and federal courts

Document Management – Organize and maintain case files, scanning, copying, and filing related work, formatting documents as needed

Client and Expert Communication – Preparing communication with clients, opposing counsel; schedule depositions

Administrative Support – Manage calendars, deadlines, travel arrangements, submit expense reimbursements, review invoices
Qualifications:

2-3 years of legal support in a defense litigation firm preferred

Excellent organization and time management skills in a busy, deadline-driven environment

Strong written and verbal communication

Strong proofreading and editing skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, PDF products, copying/scanning, and data entry

Dependability: follow instructions, timeliness, and commitment to the hours necessary to meet deadlines
