Overview
We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Food Service Manager to lead the daily operations of a kitchen that prepares and distributes nutritious meals for individuals living in our residential programs. This role is responsible for food production, staff supervision, menu planning, food safety, purchasing, inventory control and regulatory compliance.
The Food Service Manager role is a full time position. The hours are Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm which includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch.
Duties
- Direct all kitchen and food service operations for meal preparation and distribution to multiple group home locations.
- Plan menus that meet nutritional needs, accommodate special diets, and support client health and wellness.
- Supervise, schedule, train, and support kitchen staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality food production.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable food safety, sanitation, storage, and infection control standards.
- Oversee purchasing, receiving, inventory, and cost controls to maintain adequate supplies and reduce waste.
- Develop and implement standard recipes, portion controls, production schedules, and quality assurance procedures.
- Coordinate with program leadership, residential staff, and other stakeholders regarding dietary needs, meal delivery, and service concerns.
- Monitor kitchen equipment and facility needs, arranging maintenance and repairs as necessary.
- Maintain required records related to menus, temperatures, cleaning schedules, inventory, and vendor orders.
- Promote a culture of dignity, professionalism and teamwork.
Requirements
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in food service management, preferably in healthcare, behavioral health, residential, or human services settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, including safe food handling, storage, and kitchen sanitation practices.
- Experience managing staff, scheduling, training, and performance oversight.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with purchasing, inventory systems, and basic office software.
Work Environment
This position works in a commercial kitchen environment and requires regular standing, walking, lifting, and interaction with food service equipment and delivery processes. The Food Service Manager must be able to maintain high standards of sanitation, safety, and reliability while supporting the mission of the agency and the needs of the residents served.
