Job Summary:
The Private Utility Locate Field Manager will oversee the operations of the utility locating division, ensuring the accurate and timely identification and marking of underground utilities. This role involves managing a team of utility locators, coordinating with clients, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Supervise and lead a team of utility locators, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Supervising personnel and managing the daily operations of the division.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and accuracy in utility locating services.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Operational Oversight
- Ensure all utility locating activities are performed in compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of utility locators to various job sites.
- Ensuring that all client deliverables are sent out to contacts in a timely manner.
- Monitor and manage the division's budget, resources, and equipment.
- Maintaining the division's standard and quality of work.
- Planning and allocating resources and budget for the division.
- Providing advice and conflict resolution management to staff.
- Evaluating the division's performance and developing strategies for improvement.
- Establishing communication with managers in other departments to coordinate efforts and solve problems as needed.
Client Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, concerns, and service requests.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Prepare and present reports on project status, performance metrics, and client feedback.
Quality Control
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of utility locating services.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of job sites to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies in utility locating reports.
Safety and Compliance
- Promote a culture of safety within the division, ensuring all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices, ensuring the division's operations are compliant.
- Conduct safety training sessions and drills for the utility locating team.
Technical Expertise
- Utilize advanced locating equipment and technology to support the team in identifying underground utilities.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to utility locators as needed.
- Stay informed about new technologies and methodologies in the utility locating industry.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility locating or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of utility locating techniques, equipment, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven experience in business development and client relationship management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using utility locating software and technology.
