Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Interim Controller to join our finance team in our Shrewsbury, MA office during an exciting period of growth and acquisition integration. This individual will immediately play an integral role in managing complex close, reporting, and integration activities while serving as a key financial partner to company leadership and our parent organization's shared services team.
This is not a consulting-style assignment. We are looking for a finance leader who will operate as a seamless extension of our team, balancing strategic business partnership with day-to-day accounting execution. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, can quickly build credibility across the organization, and enjoys creating structure during times of change.
While the role is initially focused on driving critical accounting and integration activities, there is potential for the individual to take on broader leadership responsibilities within the finance organization as the engagement progresses. The position is initially structured as a contract engagement, with the potential for a longer-term opportunity based on business needs and mutual fit.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Execute month‑end and year‑end close tasks: prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for GL, inventory, intercompany, prepaids, and fixed assets.
-
Maintain inventory accounting and COGS for manufacturing operations (inventory valuation, cost variances, freight, scrap).
-
Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and support group consolidation efforts.
-
Support AR/AP exceptions and escalations, vendor/customer reconciliations, and payment processes as needed.
-
Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits and tax reviews; liaise with auditors and HQ tax advisors.
-
Build strong partnerships with accounting team members, business leaders, and shared services partners.
-
Evaluate processes, organizational needs, and opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the finance function.

-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field.
-
Minimum 7+ years of progressive professional accounting experience; manufacturing or distribution experience strongly preferred.

Solid working knowledge of US GAAP and practical exposure to IFRS, including ability to prepare or reconcile differences.
-
Hands‑on ERP experience; preference for Infor LN or similar. Ability to post transactions, extract data and troubleshoot accounting flows.

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, sensitivity analysis, etc.).
-
Experience with inventory accounting, COGS, intercompany and fixed assets.

Proven month‑end close discipline, account reconciliation capability, and attention to detail.
