Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Chief Quality Officer to lead our organization’s quality assurance and compliance initiatives within the healthcare sector. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in healthcare quality management, regulatory standards, and process improvement. As the Chief Quality Officer, you will oversee the development and implementation of quality assurance programs, ensure adherence to healthcare regulations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to enhance patient safety and care outcomes. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining accreditation standards and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations.
Experience Required - Previous experience in healthcare compliance is preferred as well as experience in Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement activities associated with healthcare in the hospital setting.
Education required - BSN preferred with current GA RN License. Associate Degree accepted with relevant experience.
Duties
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive quality management strategies aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Lead efforts to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, CMS guidelines, JCAHO accreditation standards, FDA regulations, and other pertinent legal frameworks.
- Oversee the design and execution of quality improvement initiatives utilizing data analysis skills to identify areas for enhancement in patient care processes.
- Manage risk management programs to mitigate potential liabilities related to healthcare delivery and data security.
- Collaborate with clinical teams, administrative staff, and external agencies to ensure adherence to healthcare compliance policies such as ICD coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical terminology standards.
- Supervise the development of policies for Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) management ensuring data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead accreditation processes including JCAHO inspections and CMS audits by preparing documentation and coordinating corrective actions as needed.
- Promote a culture of quality assurance through staff training on healthcare compliance, process improvement methodologies, and regulatory updates.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA regulations, and CMS guidelines.
- Proficiency in ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, medical terminology, and health regulation policy knowledge.
- Strong project management skills with experience leading healthcare quality initiatives from conception through implementation.
- Expertise in process improvement techniques such as Lean or Six Sigma within a healthcare environment.
- Technical proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR) systems and Microsoft Office suite for data analysis and reporting purposes.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing multidisciplinary teams while fostering collaboration across departments.
- Deep understanding of accreditation standards including JCAHO requirements and regulatory compliance management.
- Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets related to healthcare quality metrics for informed decision-making.
