Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and measuring according to recipes and standards
- Assist in menu planning and ingredient organization to streamline kitchen operations
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, slicers, ovens, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
- Support cooking processes by following recipes accurately and adhering to portion control guidelines
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth communication and timely meal preparation
- Handle food safely by practicing proper food handling techniques and maintaining hygiene protocols during all stages of prep and service
Experience
- Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is valued
- Experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings is highly advantageous
- Familiarity with food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments
- Knowledge of knife skills, slicing techniques, and proper food handling procedures
- Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, catering services, or meal preparation is a plus
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork within fast-paced kitchen environments
- Basic understanding of operating kitchen equipment and maintaining cleanliness in a commercial setting
