We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for ALL shifts (12 HR shifts) to serve as a Charge Nurse in our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, leadership abilities, and a compassionate approach to patient care. This role involves overseeing nursing staff, coordinating patient treatments, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. The LVN Charge Nurse will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care across various settings, including long-term care, and acute care Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR systems), medical documentation, and a broad knowledge of nursing practices are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise nursing staff to ensure delivery of safe, effective patient care
- Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physical examinations
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform catheterization and tube feeding as needed
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations and assist with procedures such as cardiac catheterization or spinal taps
- Manage airway techniques including ventilator support and airway management protocols
- Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth
- Oversee discharge planning, case management, and post-acute care coordination
- Ensure infection control practices adhere to hospital standards and HIPAA regulations
- Provide education on health coaching, medication administration, and disease management including dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Assist with specimen collection/processing and laboratory testing procedures
- Maintain aseptic techniques during sterile procedures such as suturing or dermal filler administration
- Support emergency response efforts including basic life support (BLS) and acute pain management protocols
Qualifications
- Valid LVN license with current state licensure required
- Proven experience in diverse clinical settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or long-term care
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and documentation standards
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems proficiency in medical records management
- Skilled in patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, medication administration (including injections), phlebotomy, and venipuncture
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication skills for working with patients with disabilities or developmental delays; experience in dementia or memory care is a plus
- Physical ability to perform duties involving lifting (Hoyer lifts), standing for extended periods, and performing sterile procedures
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
