Position Summary
Fifty West Brewing Company is seeking a motivated, hardworking and positive individual to join our production team as a Production Brewer.

Position Overview
The Production Brewer is responsible for producing high-quality beer in accordance with Fifty West recipes, quality standards, safety procedures and brewing-industry best practices.
This position supports all aspects of brewing and cellaring operations, including raw-material handling, wort production, fermentation monitoring, yeast management, tank additions, transfers, clarification, carbonation, bright-beer preparation, cleaning-in-place procedures and general brewery sanitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute all stages of the brewing process, including milling, wort production, fermentation management, filtration or clarification, finishing and bright-beer handling.
- Safely operate a 20-barrel, three-vessel brewhouse, including spent-grain removal.
- Follow established recipes, production schedules and standard operating procedures to meet product specifications.
- Perform cellaring operations, including yeast handling, tank additions, dry hopping, transfers, carbonation, clarification and preparation of beer for packaging.
- Monitor beer throughout fermentation and cellaring.
- Collect and accurately record required process and quality-control measurements.
- Maintain complete and accurate brewing, cellaring, cleaning and production records.
- Receive cross-training on the canning line and provide occasional packaging support when additional assistance is needed, including setup, operation, changeovers, sanitation, basic troubleshooting, quality checks and packaging records.
- Perform cleaning-in-place procedures and maintain clean, sanitary and organized equipment and production areas.
- Conduct sensory evaluations of beer, wort and raw materials.
- Identify and promptly communicate potential product-quality concerns.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance within the employee’s training and responsibilities.
- Identify equipment or process problems, perform appropriate troubleshooting and escalate larger maintenance or quality issues.
- Safely receive, handle and organize brewing ingredients and production supplies.
- Drive company vehicles to warehouses, suppliers and other business locations as needed.
- Participate in production meetings and communicate clearly during production handoffs.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including chemical-handling requirements, personal protective equipment requirements, equipment safeguards and applicable lockout/tagout procedures.
- Promptly report safety hazards, injuries, spills, equipment damage and product-quality concerns.
- Assist with other brewery production responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of professional brewing, beverage-production or related manufacturing experience.
- Formal brewing education or a college degree in brewing science, fermentation science, food science or a related field.
- Experience operating a commercial brewhouse and cellar.
- Experience operating or supporting an automated canning line.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Advanced troubleshooting abilities in a brewing or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with brewery-management software, preferably EKOS.
- In-depth knowledge of brewing processes, beer styles and ingredients.
- Familiarity with routine brewing and packaging quality-control practices.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with basic preventive maintenance.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a production team.
- Dependable attendance and a willingness to work a flexible production schedule.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Forklift or powered-pallet-equipment experience is a plus.
