- Take and develop high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral health evaluations.
- Provide tailored patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to improve long-term dental health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health records, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
- Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to safeguard patient and staff health.
- Educate patients about dental terminology, procedures, and the importance of regular check-ups to foster informed decision-making.
- Support the dental team by managing dental equipment maintenance, sterilization processes, and documentation review for quality assurance.
Qualifications
- Valid South Carolina state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced dental office or clinic environment with proficiency in dental assisting tasks.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices relevant to dentistry.
- Familiarity with Open Dental
- Expertise in infection prevention management, including sterilization techniques and healthcare infection control standards aligned with HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatric patients in pediatric dentistry settings.
- Knowledge of dental equipment operation, X-ray safety protocols, and general dentistry procedures.
