Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HVAC Ductwork Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with HVAC ductwork systems for commercial construction projects. Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications related to HVAC ductwork systems to determine material and labor requirements.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or equivalent tools to prepare detailed cost estimates for ductwork installations.
- Estimate material quantities by analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, ensuring accurate pricing of ducts, fittings, insulation, supports, and accessories.
- Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the bidding process and during project execution, implementing effective cost control strategies.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams through negotiation to secure favorable pricing and terms for materials and services.
- Review contracts and project scopes to ensure all aspects of ductwork estimation align with project requirements and specifications.
- Use construction management software and spreadsheets to track estimates, update project data, and generate comprehensive bid proposals.
- Conduct site visits when necessary to gather additional information on existing conditions that may impact ductwork installation costs.
- Maintain detailed records of all estimating activities, including bid summaries, change orders, and correspondence related to project costs.
Experience
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the HVAC or general commercial construction industry.
- Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent; familiarity with Bluebeam is highly desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
- Demonstrated ability in cost management, including material cost estimating and pricing strategies for large-scale projects.
- Experience in negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to optimize project budgets.
- Construction site experience that provides insight into installation processes and on-the-ground challenges.
- Familiarity with construction management software tools like Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Understanding of construction industry standards related to HVAC systems, including ducts, fittings, insulation materials, and supports.
