Senior Project Manager / Estimator Otsego | $115,000–$155,000 | Direct Hire
Konik is partnering with an established construction contractor seeking a Senior Project Manager / Estimator to lead complex estimating efforts, secure new work, and manage awarded projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is ideal for a senior construction professional who enjoys owning the full project lifecycle, building client relationships, finalizing competitive bids, and driving project performance across safety, schedule, cost, compliance, and profitability.
The Senior Project Manager / Estimator will be responsible for identifying and pursuing bid opportunities, preparing and finalizing estimates, coordinating preconstruction planning, managing project execution, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, public entities, general contractors, internal teams, and field leadership. This position also provides leadership and oversight to estimating and project management staff.
Responsibilities

Finalize estimates and proposals for public and private construction projects, including large and complex scopes of work.

Identify and pursue bid opportunities through client relationships, networking, public/private postings, and assigned opportunities.

Prepare and coordinate complete estimates, including plan and specification review, quantity takeoffs, subcontractor/vendor quotes, bid construction, and final submittals.

Provide overall management direction for awarded projects, including scheduling, cost control, project documentation, compliance, change orders, billing, and client communication.

Coordinate preconstruction meetings and partner with operations teams to align construction methods, staffing plans, resources, and project execution strategies.

Track labor, materials, project costs, payables, receivables, invoicing, and over/under billing to support accurate financial management.

Manage project scope changes and change orders to protect profitability and ensure approvals are secured before work is completed.

Communicate with owners, general contractors, field teams, project coordinators, and internal leadership to support safe, timely, and profitable project completion.

Ensure project requirements are met, including permits, licensing, EEO/DBE requirements, safety expectations, compliance standards, and owner/client requirements.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while building relationships with prospective future clients.

Troubleshoot project issues using internal resources, sound judgment, and timely communication.

Supervise and support Estimator I, Estimator II, and Project Manager / Estimator team members.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

15+ years of experience estimating and managing large, complex construction projects.

Strong understanding of construction estimating, project management, scheduling, cost tracking, billing, change order management, and contract administration.

Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, policies, reports, contracts, legal documents, and regulatory requirements.

Strong mathematical skills, including construction-related conversions, quantities, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, public entities, vendors, field teams, office staff, and senior leadership.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to define issues, gather information, evaluate options, and make sound decisions.

Proven ability to build lasting client relationships and support business development efforts.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Experience with bidding and project management software required.

Working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista and HCSS construction software preferred.

Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.

Ability to travel occasionally to jobsites and client meetings, including limited overnight travel.
