Job Overview
We're looking for a high-energy, people-first General Manager to run the show at our casual, politically themed sports bar. This isn't your average desk job — you'll be on the floor, leading the charge during game days, happy hours, and everything in between. As GM, you'll own the full operation: from building a killer team and keeping the bar stocked, to making sure every guest walks out happy and ready to come back. If you thrive in a fast-moving, fun environment and know how to balance hustle with hospitality, we want to talk.
Duties
- Lead day-to-day bar and restaurant operations, keeping service fast, staff motivated, and the atmosphere exactly what guests come here for.
- Oversee front and back of house activity, ensuring food quality, drink consistency, and a seamless guest experience from open to close.
- Manage inventory for both the kitchen and bar — ordering, tracking stock, reducing waste, and keeping pour costs and food costs in check.
- Utilize POS systems (Aloha, Micros, or similar) for order accuracy, cash handling, and end-of-day sales reconciliation.
- Hire, train, and develop a strong team that knows how to deliver great service even on the busiest game nights.
- Build and manage shift schedules that keep staffing sharp during peak hours — weekends, holidays, and major sporting events included.
- Enforce all health, safety, and alcohol service compliance standards, including responsible beverage service (TABC/local certification a plus).
- Stay plugged into guest feedback — handle concerns on the spot and create a culture where regulars feel at home.
- Partner with ownership on budgeting, cost controls, promotions, and strategies to grow revenue and build the brand.
- Drive the energy of the room — you set the tone for the staff and the guests every single shift.
Skills
- Proven restaurant or bar management experience, ideally in a high-volume casual dining or sports bar setting.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced, personality-driven environment.
- Solid knowledge of bar operations, including draft systems, cocktail programs, and responsible alcohol service.
- Hands-on experience with inventory management, food and beverage cost control, and vendor relationships.
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic financial reporting; comfort with daily cash handling and sales reconciliation.
- Deep understanding of food safety standards, kitchen operations, and health code compliance.
- Excellent scheduling and shift management skills, especially around high-traffic events and weekends.
- Strong communicator — whether you're coaching a new server, resolving a guest issue, or interviewing your next great hire.
- Experience with promotions, events, or sports programming is a major plus.
- A genuine passion for hospitality, cold beer, and making people feel welcome.
