Pay Range: Qualified candidates can expect to start at $72,000 and up depending on experience.
NWFF Environmental is a leader in Spill Response, Emergency Environmental and Health and Safety services within the Pacific Northwest. NWFF offers Professional, Technical and Support services in Alaska, Washington, and Oregon. NWFF has an immediate opening for a Project Manager position located in our headquarter OR office.
Project Manager
Under general direction of the Project Management Office and CEO, Project Managers monitor funding, approval, and implementation. Works with team members and other stakeholders to successfully plan and execute projects that withhold our high standard of integrity and service while ensuring that projects are completed on schedule and within expected margins. This position requires interface with a variety of stakeholders in both private and public sectors. Professionalism under pressure is highly valued.
Duties (may include, but not limited to)
Lead and coordinate field teams responding to time-critical environmental incidents, including spills or hazardous material releases. Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to ensure adherence to schedules, scope, and funding requirements managing risk, quality, and change-control measures.
Manage logistics and personnel support—equipment, scheduling, supplies— and maintain oversight of the full project lifecycle from “cradle to grave”.
Serve as a primary contact for clients, regulators, and community stakeholders during response efforts. As a professional representative, maintain a knowledge of applicable regulatory requirement and provide sound judgement during operations.
Review daily field reports for completeness and accuracy; escalate critical issues and ensure timely communication.
Draft comprehensive project closeout reports summarizing scope of work, regulatory compliance, field data, and site conditions.
Multi-task effectively across multiple active projects, maintaining high-quality deliverables under tight deadlines. Participate in acquisition planning, resource utilization and validation of expenditures.
Ensure full adherence to federal and state environmental regulations and best practices in spill response, hazmat cleanup, and waste disposal
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Emergency Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent experience).
· At least 3+ years of environmental project management experience, especially in hazardous materials or emergency response contexts.
· Experience using PMBOK framework and thorough understanding of project lifecycle stages.
· Risk identification and mitigation experience- RAID.
· In-depth understanding of federal and state regulations (EPA, RCRA, CERCLA, and Oregon/Washington spill-response protocols).
· Demonstrated ability to lead field operations and manage logistics for multi-state response.
· Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills—particularly in report preparation and stakeholder interactions.
· Efficient, highly organized, and capable of managing priorities in high-pressure, dynamic environments.
· Flexible travel capacity across NWFF’s operational footprint, often on short notice.
· Legal to the United States with valid driver’s license & satisfactory driving record for past three years

· Ability to lift 50 pounds
· Available for after-hour emergency response
· Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Power Skills especially important in the Project Manager role.
Preferred Credentials
· PMP or eligibility and willingness to seek certification (CAPM a bonus for PMP exam criteria)
· Incident Command System (ICS) training (e.g., ICS-100, ICS-200).
· Experience working with DEQ, IDEQ, Ecology, or similar regulatory agencies.
