About the Role
Babel Audio is seeking professional Italian-speaking voice actors (Standard Italian / RAI Italian) for a solo performance project. Your performances will be used to train AI systems to better understand and express human emotion. This is interpretive, character-driven work that requires genuine craft, and we have structured this engagement to reflect that.
You will receive a script and scene brief, study the emotional context, and deliver a performance that is true to the character and moment. The scenes are specific and emotionally rich. You might perform as:
- A bride, bidding farewell to her family on her wedding day, overwhelmed with emotion (Una sposa, che saluta la sua famiglia il giorno del matrimonio, sopraffatta dalle emozioni)
- A father, holding his newborn child for the first time, overcome with emotion (Un padre, che tiene in braccio il suo neonato per la prima volta, sopraffatto dalle emozioni)
- A shepherd, spotting a wolf in the distance, becoming alert to protect his herd (Un pastore, che avvistando un lupo in lontananza, si mette all'erta per proteggere il suo gregge)
- A doctor, with a heavy heart, delivering the news of a patient's passing to their family (Un medico, che con il cuore pesante, comunica alla famiglia la notizia della morte di un paziente)
- A runner, after years of training, nearing the finish line and filled with emotion (Un corridore, che dopo anni di allenamento, si avvicina al traguardo pieno di emozione)
Recordings are under one minute. You select which scripts to take on, and you work entirely on your own schedule.
Who You Are
- Native-level fluency in Standard Italian / RAI Italian (country of residence is not a requirement)
- Professional background in voice acting, dubbing, narration, audiobook recording, or similar
- Able to deliver expressive and engaging vocal performances across a variety of styles and emotions
- Comfortable interpreting a scene brief and working independently with minimal direction
Compensation
- $200 USD per recorded hour (USA) — increased rate until August 20
- Additional performance-based incentives may be available
Technical Requirements
- External microphone; pop filter or windscreen strongly recommended
- Quiet, acoustically controlled recording environment
- Stable internet connection capable of supporting smooth audio recordings
