Machine Shear Operator — Steel Fabrication (Harmarville, PA)
$19.50/hour (2nd Shift) · Direct Hire, Full-Time · $0.50/hour raise after 60–90 day probation
A steel fabrication and processing facility in Harmarville is hiring a Machine Shear Operator for 2nd shift — this is a direct hire position, not temp-to-hire. Last year, nobody on this team left. If you're looking for somewhere to actually settle in long-term, this is worth a look.
Schedule & pay (read this part):
- Monday–Thursday: 2:30 PM–1:00 AM (30-minute lunch)
- Friday: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM — paid at time and a half, no lunch
- When you work the Friday 8 AM shift, your Thursday shift ends early at 11:00 PM instead of 1:00 AM
- Some Fridays off entirely
- No Saturday or Sunday work
- $19.50/hour to start, with a $0.50/hour bump after your 60–90 day probation period, plus annual raises and bonuses (with potential for more frequent bonuses down the line)
This schedule takes a minute to get used to — Friday runs differently than the rest of the week, and your Thursday hours shift depending on it. If you can work with that rhythm, it's a solid, predictable routine the other four nights.
What you'll do:
- Set up and operate a hydraulic steel shear
- Move steel sheets to machines by hand, crane, or magnet
- Inspect finished sheets and strips using precision measuring tools
- Package finished materials with air-powered banding tools
- Move raw and finished steel using a forklift
- Record production, print tags, and follow work orders using basic computer/calculator skills
What we're looking for:
- No experience necessary — you'll be trained from day one
- Basic math, reading, and measuring skills
- Reliable and punctual — this matters more than prior experience
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Team-oriented, willing to pitch in where needed
