Job Description
This role focuses on assembling, installing, and securing commercial HVAC ductwork systems for large industrial and mission-critical facilities. You will work in both a fabrication shop and on active construction sites, installing a wide range of sheet metal and mechanical components while following detailed drawings, specifications, and strict safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities

Assemble, install, and secure commercial HVAC ductwork systems in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

Install square duct, spiral duct, fittings, transitions, offsets, and specialty sheet metal components.

Install louvers, dampers, damper assemblies, and associated support and control systems.

Install industrial heaters, ventilation fans, exhaust systems, and related mechanical equipment.

Assist with layout and installation of pipe racking and equipment support systems.

Perform field modifications and troubleshooting on ductwork and mechanical systems as required.

Utilize hand tools, power tools, and trade-specific equipment safely and efficiently.

Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication details, blueprints, BIM layouts, and project specifications.

Measure, cut, assemble, and prepare ductwork and sheet metal components for field installation.

Operate fabrication equipment and machinery in a safe and efficient manner.

Maintain quality standards and meet production schedules in both shop and field environments.

Follow installation drawings and BIM layouts to ensure accurate and compliant installations.

Coordinate work activities with foremen, project managers, and other trades to support efficient project execution.

Assist with material staging, organization, and jobsite housekeeping to maintain a safe and orderly work area.

Ensure all work complies with quality, safety, and project requirements and report any issues promptly.

Work independently and as part of a team while taking direction and following established project procedures.
Essential Skills
-
3+ years of commercial sheet metal experience preferred, with a focus on HVAC ductwork systems.

Proven experience assembling and installing commercial ductwork systems, including square and spiral duct.

Experience installing louvers, dampers, and damper assemblies.

Experience with pipe racking systems and equipment support installations.
-
Experience with heaters, fan systems, and related mechanical equipment.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, BIM layouts, and project specifications.

Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail in fabrication and installation tasks.

Ability to safely utilize hand tools, power tools, and trade-specific equipment.
-
Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
-
Ability to work at heights and access elevated work areas using ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while following direction and procedures.

Reliable transportation to travel between fabrication shop and jobsite locations.
-
OSHA 10 Certification.

Experience working in industrial, mission-critical, or large commercial construction environments.

Experience operating scissor lifts and boom lifts.
-
Prior data center construction experience.

Familiarity with Microsoft, Google, AWS, or other hyperscale data center projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in HVAC, sheet metal, duct installation, and construction trades.

Experience with ductwork installation, including transitions, offsets, and specialty components.

Experience in a fabrication shop environment operating sheet metal fabrication equipment.

Comfort working in active industrial environments with multiple trades on site.

Strong organizational skills for material staging and jobsite housekeeping.

Ability to adapt to changing project needs, schedules, and priorities.

Willingness to work overtime based on project requirements.

Work Environment
You will work in both a fabrication shop located in Clemmons, NC and on a large data center jobsite in Newton, NC. The schedule typically consists of 10-hour days, Monday through Friday, with overtime potential based on project needs. The role is based in an active industrial environment where you will work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. You will regularly work on ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms, and operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, and fabrication equipment. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with multiple trades working concurrently and a strong emphasis on maintaining clean, organized, and compliant work areas.

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
