We are hiring staff for a newly opened, upscale, 6 bed residential detox facility in Laguna Beach. Candidates must be open for training shifts for the first 30 days at our Capistrano Beach location for the first several weeks.

Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician/Support Driver is direct care position that requires driving clients to and from sites. The BHT works directly with each of the clients, the Program Director and the Clinical Director on an individual basis providing assistance in the areas of medication observation and medical appointment scheduling, as well as overall client health, in an intensive inpatient care facility serving dually diagnosed clients who are detoxing off alcohol and other drugs.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Follow all state of California rules and regulations concerning standards of care.
- Works with Medical Director and Program Director to oversee detoxification services.
- Strictly enforce and support person served rights and confidentiality of information as required by HIPAA.
- Provide supervision/ assistance to all persons served in medication offered and observed. Provide medication teaching and answer all questions regarding medications prescribed.
- Promote and maintain good communication and cooperative working relationships with staff, family members, and related treatment team persons.
- Demonstrate consistent and comprehensive knowledge of skills required to perform job duties and responsibilities.
- Participates in documentation of behaviors and communicates to supervising staff promptly.
- Responsible for new admission assessments, TB tests, lab draws and all related procedures as well as setting up for doctor visits either by DOXY or in office visits.
- Observation of detoxification clients, documentation, audit functions, and record keeping of all observed/inventoried/destroyed/prescribed medications
- Assessment of patients with addiction and mental health conditions and assisting in ascertaining clinical medication management with Nurse Practitioner and Medical Director.
- Observation, documentation, and record keeping of client health status.
- Responsible for medication management and refilling of appropriate medications as well as d/c of medications.
- Responsible to document nursing progress notes, MAR’s, including communicating to staff by phone and/or email.
- Documentation of BAC, vital signs, COWS, CIWAS, behavior changes, medication responses and illness.
- Works closely with Clinical Team on client health status and presenting conditions.
- Manages complete Medication Administration Record Sheets and system.
- Pick up medications/ other medical supplies/ interact with medical director
- Work closely with Medical Director to provide education and counseling for clients and other organizational health care providers on optimal use of medicines (e.g., proper use, avoidance of over medication)
- Analyze and record Urine Analysis results.
- Assuring the prompt coordination of transportation of person served to appointments made by nursing such as urgent care, hospital and all appropriate documentation is accompanying the person served.
- Work closely with doctors to assure a clear and concise line of communication
- Follow daily shift responsibilities as designed by The Organization
- Assist/supervise/monitor in the maintenance and cleanliness of the nursing center office.
- Crisis intervention and/or initiation of emergency protocol if needed, including CPR and calling 911.
- Support and implement The Organization's philosophy with reference to all program components and person served personal dignity.
- Implement IMS duties as assigned by Medical Director
- And, other duties as assigned.
Eligible candidates must have a clean driving record!!! Moving violations within the last 5 years are not accepted according to auto policy standards.
Eligibility is contingent upon passing a pre employment drug screen, background screen and medical clearance!!!!
- Onsite training for first 1-2 months in Capistrano Beach, Orange County, California
- Must be Registered or certified to work in recovery (within first 30 days of employment) SUDRC or RADT-i
- Experience preferred but will train the right people
