Join our dedicated mental health team as a Mental Health Counselor, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, evidence-based psychological support to diverse populations. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to work with individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, in various settings such as outpatient clinic, and through telehealth platforms. Your expertise will help clients navigate mental health challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve their personal goals. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to inform treatment planning.
- Deliver individual, group, family, and child/youth therapy sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance/movement therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety during acute episodes.
- Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards and HIPAA regulations, maintaining accurate medical records and progress notes within EMR/EHR systems.
- Facilitate intake assessments for new clients, ensuring thorough understanding of client needs and co-occurring disorders.
- Provide specialized counseling services including grief counseling, addiction counseling, PTSD care, behavior management, gender issues counseling, and support for individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts and ensure continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Engage in clinical research activities to stay current with best practices and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling psychology or related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid licensure or certification as a licensed professional counselor (LPC), licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), Licensed mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) or equivalent credential required; additional certifications in trauma-focused therapy or addiction counseling are a plus.
- Proven experience working with children, adolescents, or adults in clinical or outpatient settings; experience working with individuals with disabilities or co-occurring disorders highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic techniques including psychotherapy modalities such as CBT, psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and evidence-based practices.
- Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), medical terminology, and clinical documentation standards.
- Experience providing telehealth therapy services utilizing HIPAA-compliant platforms preferred.
- Ability to manage crisis situations effectively while demonstrating excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity.
- Knowledge of medical records management systems (EMR/EHR) and clinical research procedures is advantageous.
