Operations Manager — UGA ONE INC
Location: Queens, New York
Full-time Company: UGA ONE INC — Courier & delivery services
About UGA ONE
UGA ONE is a courier and delivery company specializing in courier and delivery for major airlines operating at Newark Liberty (EWR), John F. Kennedy (JFK), and LaGuardia (LGA) airports. We serve both airline partners and direct carrier clients across the New York / New Jersey tri-state area, managing same-day and time-sensitive deliveries with a proprietary technology platform.
Role overview
We are looking for an operations Manager to take ownership of day-to-day delivery operations, resource management, and team development. This person will run the floor — managing dispatchers, drivers, warehouse flow, and delivery performance across three airports and delivery routes. The right candidate has hands-on experience running a courier, delivery, or logistics operation and thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
Key responsibilities
Operations and resource management
- Oversee daily dispatch operations across EWR, JFK, and LGA, ensuring all deliveries meet SLA requirements
- Manage warehouse operations at two locations (Richmond Hill, NY and Elizabeth, NJ), including pick up scheduling, sorting, and route staging
- Coordinate and optimize delivery routes covering New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and eastern Pennsylvania
- Manage driver fleet assignments, route coverage, and capacity planning to ensure full geographic coverage across all shifts
- Monitor delivery performance metrics including on-time rates, failed delivery rates, and cost per delivery
- Manage relationships with airport services office staff and airline station contacts
- Oversee vehicle and equipment readiness, ensuring all drivers meet compliance standards
- Handle escalations including misdeliveries, damaged claims, and passenger complaints
- Implement contingency plans during irregular operations, inclement weather, and high-volume periods
Human resources, recruitment, and training
- Lead end-to-end recruitment of independent contractor drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse staff
- Manage driver onboarding including 1099 contractor agreements, platform training, and route familiarization
- Train dispatchers on order management, SLA monitoring, and airline communication protocols
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for all operational roles
- Manage driver performance reviews, address conduct issues, and handle contractor terminations when necessary
- Build and manage a bench of backup drivers to ensure coverage during peak periods, holidays, and driver absences
Technology and reporting
- Use the company's proprietary delivery management platform (UGA1) for order tracking, driver assignment, and status updates
- Generate and review daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for internal use and airline partner reporting
- Coordinate with the development team on platform improvements, bug reports, and feature requests
- Ensure all drivers maintain real-time status updates, photo proof of delivery, and accurate delivery timestamps through the mobile app
Requirements
- 3+ years of operations management experience in a courier, delivery, or last-mile logistics company
- Direct experience managing a fleet of delivery drivers (employees or independent contractors)
- Proven ability to recruit, hire, train, and manage a field-based workforce
- Strong understanding of route planning, dispatch operations, and delivery SLA management
- Familiarity with airport operations, airline ground services, or transportation security requirements is a strong plus
- Proficiency with logistics software, route management tools, and mobile delivery applications
- Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as operational needs require
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Based in or willing to relocate to the New York / New Jersey metro area
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in airport delivery, airline ground handling, or aviation logistics
- Background in managing independent contractor workforces (1099 model)
- Experience with performance-based SLA environments where delivery windows are strictly enforced
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus given the driver workforce demographic in the tri-state area
What we offer
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Direct involvement in a growing operation expanding across three major airports
- Opportunity to shape operations at a company investing in proprietary technology and direct airline relationships
- A fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where your decisions have immediate operational impact
