Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift start and then move to second shift
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in keeping our galvanizing plant operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. Working closely with the General Manager and Production Supervisors, this position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment and facilities.
In a galvanizing environment, maintenance needs can change from one day to the next. The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on problem solver who is comfortable working around heavy industrial equipment and enjoys figuring out how to keep things running.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or technical/trade certification, preferred
- Previous industrial maintenance experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge and experience with mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience with welding, fabrication, equipment troubleshooting, and general facility maintenance
- Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, furnaces, lifts, and other industrial equipment preferred
Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain and repair plant equipment to support continuous production
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and make necessary repairs
- Perform preventative and routine maintenance on equipment and facility systems
- Maintain and repair industrial equipment including overhead cranes, forklifts, lifts, furnaces, and other production equipment
- Assist with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs
- Perform welding and fabrication projects as needed
- Cut, bend, straighten, modify, and weld various steel components
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance needs
- Identify potential equipment issues and address them before they result in downtime
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Assist with general facility repairs and upkeep
- Work closely with Production Supervisors and management to prioritize maintenance needs
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Previous experience operating or working around industrial equipment
- Ability to maintain overhead cranes, forklifts, cutting torches, welding equipment, and other shop tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and understand basic mechanical/electrical information
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance needs
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 100 pounds
- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment, including exposure to outdoor conditions, heat, and heavy equipment
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime and some weekends when needed

This position will start on first shift position with a strong possibility of moving to second shift. Overtime and some weekend work required based on production and maintenance needs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
