RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with selected accounts on day-to-day basis handling all required sales and administrative functions necessary
- Monitor inventory and discuss upcoming requirements with any contract or hold and release programs with current or new accounts developed
- Assists with demand planning activities at the branch level for bundled standard items, contracted business, and day-to-day procurement activities. Aid in issuing and filing of purchase orders in a timely fashion.
- Coordinating with entire sales group on contractual business and corresponding inventory levels.
- Supports branch inventory management efforts through inventory review, purchasing coordination, and continuous improvement activities. Maintain all open purchase orders to ensure accuracy and expected delivery dates are kept current including internal and external supply and out for process related business
- Develop working knowledge of branch purchasing processes, inventory management practices, supplier relationships, and program account requirements to provide backup support and operational continuity as needed.
- Monitor the status of customers’ orders and intervene as required to ensure on-time delivery.
- Contact customers to inform them as soon as it is determined that their order will be late or incomplete and work with them to minimize the consequences of the service breakdown.
- Review the total in-stock and on order position of accounts to anticipate potential excess and aged inventory issues.
- Perform all duties in a manner that is consistent with principles outlined in Samuel’s Customer Bill of Rights.
- Review the profit performance of accounts on a regular basis and look for ways to improve. (e.g. material utilization, processing set-ups, freight, etc.)
- Review the total in-stock and on order position of accounts to anticipate potential excess and aged inventory issues.
- Other related duties as assigned.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Relevant work experience can be accepted in lieu of a formal education.
- Experience in metals is a plus, but not required.
- Effective time management skills, ability to prioritize, able to work as a member of a team.
- Strong writing and organizational skills are a must.
- Previous interaction and experience with customers in a service or related industry is a plus.
- Drive, determination and ability to work both independently with little direction and as part of a team.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:
- Familiarity with Computers, and software such as, (Excel, Word, AS400, Microsoft Outlook, phones, company documentation) etc.
