About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our cosmetic surgery team. You will support our surgeons and clinical staff in delivering an exceptional patient experience — from initial consultation through post-operative care. The ideal candidate combines strong clinical skills with meticulous documentation practices and a polished, patient-focused demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and room patients and record medical histories in the EMR system
- Assist surgeons during cosmetic consultations, minor in-office procedures, and pre/post-operative appointments
- Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing pre-operative instructions, confirming medical clearances, verifying consent forms, and ensuring all required lab work and documentation are complete prior to the procedure date
- Conduct post-operative follow-up with patients via phone or in-person visits to assess healing, address concerns, reinforce care instructions, and escalate any complications to the supervising physician
- Capture standardized before-and-after patient photos following practice protocols
- Educate patients on pre- and post-operative care instructions and answer routine questions
- Maintain sterile technique and prepare procedure trays, surgical instruments, and treatment rooms
- Accurately document all patient encounters in the EMR, including treatment notes, medication lists, surgical histories, consent forms, and pre/post-operative checklists, ensuring records are HIPAA-compliant
- Support physician documentation workflows by scribing provider notes, processing prior authorizations, and auditing charts for completeness prior to surgical dates
- Manage medical supply inventory
- Coordinate with front desk staff to ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling
- Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable healthcare regulations
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Demonstrated accuracy in clinical documentation and EMR data entry
- Strong written communication and attention to detail
- Professional, patient-centered demeanor
Preferred Qualifications
- CMA (AAMA) or RMA certification
- 1–3 years of experience in a surgical or aesthetic practice
- Experience with EMR systems
- Medical scribing or chart audit experience
- Familiarity with aesthetic treatments (Botox, fillers, lasers)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
