Job Title: Aircraft Washer – KC‑135
Summary:
The Aircraft Washer supports the maintenance and readiness of KC‑135 aircraft by performing exterior cleaning, corrosion control tasks, and detailing. This position ensures aircraft surfaces remain within Air Force standards for cleanliness, safety, and inspection readiness, directly supporting flight operations and mission capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform exterior washing, rinsing, and detailing of KC‑135 aircraft using approved equipment, cleaning agents, and technical data.
- Follow all Air Force Technical Orders (TOs) and maintenance procedures related to aircraft cleaning, corrosion prevention, and material handling.
- Set up, operate, and maintain wash stands, hoses, lifts, brushes, pressure washers, and other support equipment.
- Inspect aircraft surfaces for dirt, oil, hydraulic fluid, fuel residues, and environmental contaminants.
- Identify and report signs of corrosion, damage, or abnormalities to maintenance personnel.
- Apply corrosion preventive compounds when directed; assist with basic corrosion-control tasks.
- Safely work around aircraft systems, including landing gear, engines, refueling pods, and sensitive avionics areas.
- Ensure proper containment and disposal of wastewater and chemicals in accordance with environmental and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain accountability of tools, equipment, and materials to support Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention.
- Assist with hangar setup, wash-rack preparation, and post-wash cleanup.
- Support flightline operations with adherence to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and communication procedures.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic aircraft cleaning techniques or willingness to learn through on-the-job training.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions, maintenance manuals, and Air Force TOs.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., work on ladders, platforms, and in outdoor conditions.
- Understanding of flightline safety or prior experience on an airfield
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate clearly with maintenance personnel.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working on Air Force aircraft or within aviation maintenance.
- Familiarity with corrosion control practices.
- Prior work on KC‑135 or other large aircraft (desirable).
Work Environment:
This role involves outdoor and hangar-based work, exposure to chemicals and noise, and operations around active flightlines.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
