Brief Position Overview
The Residence Hall Director is a full-time, 12-month, live-in professional staff member who serves as a key member of the Housing & Residence Life leadership team. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Housing and Event Support, the Residence Hall Director is responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential community that supports student success, retention, and personal development.
The Residence Hall Director provides leadership for the daily operation and management of an assigned residence hall. Housing and residence life servs approximately 400 residents who choose to live on campus each semester. Responsibilities include community development, student engagement, crisis response, behavioral intervention, program implementation, policy enforcement, and collaboration with campus partners to enhance the residential experience.
The Residence Hall Director directly supervises approximately 20 student staff members, including Resident Assistants, Desk Assistants, and Summer Operations staff, providing training, mentoring, performance management, and ongoing professional development. As a member of the Housing & Residence Life leadership team, the Residence Hall Director participates in an on-call rotation, responds to student emergencies and critical incidents, and contributes to departmental initiatives that advance the mission and goals of Housing & Residence Life and Montana State University Billings.
Salary
$43,290.83 annually, commensurate with experience, education and qualifications
