JOB SUMMARY
General Description
Administers, directs, and coordinates activities of the Medical/Surgical Unit and the SCU Unit. Recommends, develops, and implements policies and procedures for both the Medical/Surgical and SCU Units. Keeps the Chief Clinical Officer informed of progress in the department and any potential problems. Provides direction and evaluation of patient care delivery to ensure appropriate patient outcomes. Maintains operational aspects of the department.
Provides leadership and direction of nursing staff by identifying needs and offering encouragement for professional growth. Ensures safety and comfort of patients and health and safety of employees assigned to the unit. Provides assistance and input with administrative duties as assigned. Works closely with ancillary support services to provide and promote the appropriate working environment.
Medical/Surgical/SCU Manager reports directly to the Chief Clinical Officer.
Mental: Ability to perform effectively in stressful situations. Ability to adjust and interact with a wide variety of job situations involving many different people and projects.
Physical: Involves walking, lifting, standing and sitting. Possible exposure to blood and body fluids and communicable disease/illness.
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; Baccalaureate degree or equivalent experience required. CPR certification is required, with ACLS certification within one (1) year of employment.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of clinical nursing is required; experience in nursing management is preferred; demonstrated leadership abilities; possess good oral and written communication skills; demonstrated interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution, and facilitates staff development.
Licensure: Current Colorado licensure is required.
General working hours are Monday through Friday 40 hours a week. On call status is involved. Attending meetings and writing are involved, as well as performing direct patient care.
Pay range: $48.25 – $59.34 per hour based on experience. This is an exempt position.
