High Risk IV/STERILE/Non-sterile COMPOUNDING PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
Independent Pharmacy – Pearland, TX
High Risk Pharmacy Technician position for a rapidly growing sterile-compounding pharmacy located in Pearland, TX. Competitive pay based on experience and a Monday through Friday standard business hour schedule.
We are looking for a candidate that has High Risk experience and strong sterile and non-sterile compounding skills, is detail oriented, and is willing and able to continuously help the team in any area necessary.
You will be assisting the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing process of specialty drugs, sterile compounded and high risk medications, non-sterile compounded medications, home medical equipment and ancillary supplies. Your day to day interactions will mainly be between the pharmacist and other personnel within the company. But could include interactions with doctor's offices and the patient as well. You will be working under direct supervision of the pharmacist on duty.
JOB DUTIES / KNOWLEDGE
- High risk sterile compounding, and non-sterile compounding, experience required
- Current Texas Pharmacy Technician License
- Excellent sterile compounding technique
- Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette

- Computer knowledge – experience with Microsoft programs
- Coordinates and schedules with the assistance of the Pharmacist in the preparation of sterile admixtures and home medical equipment orders.
- Assembles and stages production orders to be filled. Organizes assigned workload to facilitate its accomplishment.
- Completes all calculations on product preparation and obtains validation from the Pharmacist before compounding/mixing.
- Compounds sterile admixtures and non-admixtures, including but not limited to parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy, hydration, and narcotic analgesics, using aseptic technique where state laws permit.
- Prepares labels, prescription, compounding/mixing worksheets and completes and maintains product lot numbers and expirations dates and batch records. Generates delivery/pick slips under the supervision of the Pharmacist. Picks and pulls supplies and home medical equipment.
- Ensures compounding/clean room areas and related equipment are cleaned and sanitized and maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Performs all necessary quality control tests and procedures for compounded products. Reports “positive results” to the Pharmacist immediately.
- Monitors with the assistance of the warehouse/distribution coordinator the maintaining and conducting of inventories, facilities record keeping and maintenance of home medical equipment.
- Obtains supply inventories from patients/clients and communicates information obtained from patients/clients to the Pharmacist as required.
- Participates in branch management, department and intra-departmental meetings and quality improvement activities as requested. Adheres to all Accreditation, OSHA, FDA, state, local and federal regulations and standards relevant to infusion pharmacy and home medical equipment.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
DEGREE OF TRAVEL
- Minimum of travel required for patient deliveries as required.
DEGREE OF DISRUPTION TO ROUTINE OVERTIME
- Disruption of routine to be expected frequently. May be required to participate in on-call schedule.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High school or equivalent
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Pharmacy Technician: 2 year
