Ability to interpret technical drawings and dimensional specifications for precision-machined components
Strong mechanical reasoning and hands-on problem-solving capability
Proficiency using common shop tools, including manual finishing and material removal tools
Solid applied mathematics skills, including fractional and decimal calculations and conversions
Demonstrated CNC machining experience (typically 2 - 4 years or equivalent technical competency)
- Ability to independently perform milling machine setups with minimal supervision
Ability to train and support peers on milling equipment
Ability to successfully complete a mid-level milling competency assessment (written and practical)
Ability to read, interpret, and understand CNC programs
Proficiency using standard precision measurement tools
Ability to perform tool touch-offs and adjust offsets on milling machines
Ability to evaluate tool life and select appropriate tooling applications
Ability to respond appropriately to unexpected machine stoppages
Ability to identify unacceptable surface finishes and implement corrective actions
Understanding of speeds and feeds adjustments
Ability to perform basic machine and process troubleshooting
Ability to set up and run parts efficiently while minimizing scrap
Ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously
Ability to maintain productivity levels consistent with team standards
