Job Summary
RC Dental Care in Rancho Cucamonga is looking for a skilled Registered Dental Assistant in Extended Functions (RDAEF) to join our growing team. This role goes beyond standard RDA duties, giving you the chance to use your full scope of practice including final impressions, restorative work, and coronal polishing while supporting our dentists across general and pediatric dentistry cases. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Maintain accurate medical records and manage patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures.

- Perform extended functions within your RDAEF scope, including taking final impressions, placing and finishing composite and amalgam restorations, coronal polishing, and applying pit and fissure sealants and topical fluoride
- Fabricate, place, and cement temporary crowns, and cement permanent crowns and bridges
- Place, wedge, and remove matrix bands and rubber dams as part of restorative procedures
- Take radiographs for patients not previously seen by the dentist and perform interim therapeutic restorations under specified conditions, per completed board-approved coursework
- Assist dentists during restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric dentistry procedures
- Prepare treatment areas using proper aseptic technique and ensure instruments and materials are ready for each procedure
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, with accuracy and adherence to safety protocols
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while maintaining full HIPAA compliance
- Take vital signs and complete medical documentation to support patient evaluations
- Provide chairside assistance using four handed dentistry techniques to keep procedures moving efficiently
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post treatment instructions, answering questions with confidence
Qualifications
- Active RDAEF license issued by the Dental Board of California, in addition to current RDA certification
- Completion of board-approved coursework in radiographic decision-making and interim therapeutic restorations preferred
- Current X-ray/radiation safety certificate and CPR certification
- Proven experience assisting in a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting, with hands on experience performing extended functions
- Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic EMR; familiarity with medical coding and records management is a plus
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic technique
- Comfortable operating dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners
- Excellent communication skills to work closely with dentists, dental receptionists, and specialists in prosthodontics or endodontics
- Solid understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and data security
