Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state curriculum standards and foster student understanding of scientific concepts.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through regular assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback.
- Foster a culture of curiosity and inquiry by encouraging students to ask questions, conduct experiments, and explore scientific phenomena.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in science education and pedagogy.
- Contribute to the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, science fairs, and school events.
- Uphold school policies and procedures while promoting a safe and respectful learning environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for middle school science or eligibility to obtain one.
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and the ability to convey them effectively to middle school students.
- Experience in lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment for all students.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
