Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the daily operations of our optometry practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical office procedures, patient intake, and have a solid understanding of optical and optometric practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake by gathering medical history and conducting preliminary assessments.
- Measure and record vital signs as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling patient information.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Provide support during eye examinations and assist the optometrist with various procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records using EHR systems.
- Educate patients on proper eye care and the use of prescribed eyewear or contact lenses.
- Handle front desk duties, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
- Support retail sales by assisting patients with eyewear selections and processing transactions.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an optometry or ophthalmology setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic medical coding/billing practices.
- Familiarity with EMR systems; experience with Maximeyes is a plus.
- Excellent patient care skills with an emphasis on customer service.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Retail math skills for managing sales transactions accurately.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus but not required.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
